Although we were just blessed with a beautiful snow fall, the clocks jump forward this Sunday and Spring is around the corner. Our lake is slowly filling, and it looks like we will have plenty of fun this year.
Trails, paths and corridors have been expanded for both road and mountain biking enthusiasts. Biking in high altitude is challenging and helps you to expand your capacity to oxygenate at sea level. On May 15, the professional road bikers will take over Big Bear Lake for Stage 6 of the Amgen Tour of California. They have chosen Big Bear as the site of their 10th anniversary time trial.
The Hillcrest Lodge is also located just down the street from the Alpine Slide. Experience a thrilling downhill toboggan ride! The Alpine Slide is family friendly and open all year round.
For those of you looking for a relaxing time, try a lake tour on the Miss Liberty Paddle Boat (seasonal). It’s located on Pine Knot Landing across from the Village. Besides lake tours, you’ll find boats, jetskis and a New Zealand speed boat.
Hikers will find that Big Bear is laced with gorgeous mountain trails. Our favorite hike is the Pine Knot Trail, we try to hike it regularly with our dogs Bella and Abbey. The trailhead is at the Aspen Glen Picnic Area, conveniently located behind the Lodge. Click here for more information.
Whether you’re looking for activity or relaxation, you’re sure to find plenty of sunshine and fresh air in Big Bear Lake.
